RAJOURI, Oct 14: The police today seized a load carrier along with 3.5 kg of poppy straw (Bukki) and arrested the vehicle driver for smuggling narcotics in the vehicle to Jammu.
Official sources said that acting on a specific information received by DySP Headquarters Rajouri, Jaswant Singh, a Police party led by Incharge Police Party Chingus, SI Mohd Fareed, under the direct supervision of SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas laid a naka on Jammu-Rajouri Highway and intercepted load carrier No. JK02AV/ 9781 at around 10.30 am.
During extensive search of the vehicle, the police naka party recovered 3.5 kg of Bukki (poppy straw), which was concealed by the driver in the AC chamber of the vehicle. The police seized the narcotics consignment along with the vehicle and also arrested the driver of the vehicle.
The accused smuggler was identified as Mohd Razak, son of Ghulam Mohammed, resident of village Sarote, in district Jammu. The police said that consignment had to be delivered by the driver at Jammu to a courier for further delivery in Punjab. The police booked the smuggler under NDPS Act and launched further investigation.
