3 arrested for gambling, one held with liquor

JAMMU, Aug 12: Three gamblers were arrested with Rs 5000 cash and playing cards while one bootlegger was arrested with 18 bottles of Rum, police said here.
Eighteen bottles of Don XXX Rum, permitted to be sold only in Punjab, were recovered from a biker namely Samwar Singh, son of Karam Singh, residence of tehsil Bambyal, district Pathankot, at naka point near Haria Chak by a police party of PP Industrial Estate Kathua, a police spokesperson said, adding his bike bearing registration No PB 18T-9463 was also seized.
A case FIR No 134/2012 U/S 48A Excise Act stands registered against the accused at Police Station Rajbagh, he told.
Also, the three gamblers namely Pinku Kumar, son of Ashok Ray residence of Laxmi Nagar Bihar, Kameshwar Parshad, son of Brij Nandan residence of Tritri Chak Patna, Bihar and Dherminder Kumar, son of Adit Sahow residence of Jaharkhand Laru—all presently residing at CTM Kathua, were arrested yesterday with Rs 5000 cash and playing cards, by a police party while patrolling near CTM Kathua, the spokesperson informed.
