JAMMU, July 24: Gharota police arrested three persons for raping a minor girl.
According to SP Rural Dushyant Sharma, a 14-year-old girl was gang raped by three persons yesterday. The accused threatened the girl of dire consequences, if she revealed the ordeal to anyone, he added.
The girl after mustering courage narrated the ordeal to her mother, who lodged a complaint regarding the incident with Police Station Gharota, SP said, adding that acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 68/18 under Section 376-DA RPC was registered at Police Station Gharota and investigation started.
The girl was handed over to family members after conducting medical examination.
During the course of investigation, a team from Gharota Police Station conducted raids in several areas and finally nabbed the trio rapists, SP said, adding that the accused have been identified as Arun Kumar, son of Bodh Raj, Bunty Kumar, son of Bodh Raj and Pritam Singh, son of Chhatter Singh, trio residents of Gharota.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Gharota Inspector Gurmeet Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Munish Anand, SP Rural Dushyant Sharma and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
