RAMBAN, Mar 16: Three persons have been arrested with three kilograms of cannabis in two separate actions.
As per police sources, on specific information, a special naka was laid at Darpura Rallu link road by a team from Banihal Police Station.
During checking, a drug peddler namely Bahar Ahmad Dar, son of Sanullah Dar of Darpura Tehsil Banihal was apprehended and on search of his bag, two kilograms of cannabis was recovered.
It is pertinent to mention here that Bahar Ahmad Dar is a habitual offender of the area and in involved in as many as four FIRs. A dossier has already been submitted to DM for his detention under PSA.
Meanwhile, an auto bearing registration number JK01L-6733 was signalled to stop for checking at T Chowk Banihal by a team from Police Station Banihal.
During checking, two youth sitting in the vehicle tried to fled away, who were overpowered by alert cops.
On thorough search, one kilogram of cannabis hidden in the dashboard was recovered and both the youth identified as Azad Ahmed Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Batpora, Tehsil Litter District Pulwama and Adil Ahmed Paddar, son of Jabbar Ahmed Paddar of Veer Tehsil Bijbehara District Anantnag were arrested.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Banihal Police Station and investigation started.
Police teams led by SDPO Banihal Sajjad Sarwar and SHO Banihal Inspector Aijaz Ahmed Wani apprehended the drug peddlers and recovered the contraband substance under the supervision of Sanjay Parihar Additional SP Ramban and Anita Sharma SSP Ramban.
