3 arrested with hawala money

JAMMU, Feb 11: Three persons were today arrested for supplying funds to terrorists through hawala and over Rs one lakh cash was recovered from their possession.
SSP Jammu Atul Goel said  that on specific inputs, police team from Bus-Stand police station and SOG in a joint operation arrested two persons namely Abdul Majeed, son of Mir Mohammad, resident of Marhote, Tehsil Surankote, district Poonch and Noor Mohd Malik, son of Abdul Rajjak Malik of Phagsoo, Thathri, district Doda.
During search, police recovered hawala money of Rs one lakh along with some documents from their possession belonging to terrorist outfits, the SSP added.
Mr Goel said that during initial investigation, one of the accused Abdul Majeed revealed that he was acting under the directions of Qazi Mohammad Asghar, son of Khadim Hussain of Hardi, tehsil Surankote.
Later, police also arrested Qazi Mohammad Asghar, he added.
With the arrest of three persons, police have achieved a major success in unearthing a hawala racket of raising and distributing money for various terrorist activities.
A case under FIR number 8/14 under Section 18/40 unlawful activities and 120-B RPC has been registered at police station Bus Stand in this regard and further investigation is going on.
