MENDHAR, Mar 15: Three villages of Balakote block in district Poonch are without electricity for the last one week.
According to Numberdar, Mohd Reyaz from Balakote, the electric cables in the area mostly have been tied with the trees and many of them got broken. In the absence of sufficient number of electric poles, the department has tied these live cables with even green trees.
The villages including Upper and Lower Lanjiot, Behrote and Sandote, situated closer to the Line of Control are without electric supply for the last several days. The matter has been reported to the concerned field staff and even to the AEE Mendhar but the power could not be restored. He alleged that large population of these villages is suffering due to it.
