JAMMU, May 26: In a heart wrenching incident, three brothers-all blind were killed in a house collapse incident at a remote hamlet of Kishtwar district this evening.
Initial inputs revealed that all the three deceased men were sons of Ashwani Kumar son of Lassu Ram and the incident took place at Ajana Puller village, about 35 kms from Kishtwar town.
The deceased were identified as Papu Kumar, Sajan Kumar and Rajesh Kumar.
After getting the news of the incident, locals rushed to rescue the buried trio but later on the nearby Police Post was also activated and cops retrieved the bodies of the buried brothers.
Sources informed that it was raining continuously for the last three days in Kishtwar which triggered the house collapse.
When contacted, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Khalil Ahmed Poswal informed that bodies of the three brothers buried under debris of the collapsed house were retrieved.
“As the area is very far off, so with great difficulty we are maintaining communication there but the cops from the nearest Police Post have reached the spot and they are on the rescue operation,” he informed adding that it was raining continuously in the area and the Kuchha portion of the house has collapsed.
The SSP also said that parents of the deceased men were safe as they were in other side of the house.
It is pertinent to mention here that it has been raining continuously for the last three days in Kishtwar and a total of 14 lives have been lost during this period in the district in different incidents triggered by these rains.
Yesterday, four members of a nomad family were killed after a tree loosened by continuous rains fell over their tent while a day before seven workers of a power project were killed and three others injured when the vehicle carrying them fell in a gorge.
Sources informed that slippery conditions developed on the road by continuous rains remained one of the reasons for the vehicle fall.
