UDHAMPUR, Oct 5: On eighth day of the vigorously launched operation to retrieve dead bodies of the missing persons in landslide hit Saddal village of Pancheri block, three more corpses were recovered today.
Their identification has been established as 43-year-old Pushpa Devi, wife of Baryan Singh, Khakhru Devi, mother of Baryan Singh and Lalita Devi (23) daughter of Kapoor Singh.
With the recovery of these three, 22 dead bodies have so far been recovered from the Saddal hamlet while 18 persons are still missing under the debris of massive landslide, which hit the village on September 7.
Initially, bodies of only 13 deceased could be recovered manually and for launching a vigorous operation to retrieve the missing persons, heavy machines were pressed into service after developing a road connectivity to the remote hamlet.
During the last one week, since the re-launch of operation for retrieval, nine bodies have so far been recovered.
