JAMMU, Jan 31: Crime Branch has booked three persons for duping the people on the pretext of managing Government jobs for them.
The accused persons are Hanief, Abdul Hamid Dar alias Zahid Ahmed Dar, son of Amaan Ullah Dar of Baramulla and Farooq Ahmed, son of Ghulam Qadir of Pulwama.
According to the Crime Branch, one Swarn Lal, son of Dhaya Ram of Kathua lodged a complaint mentioning that he came into contact with one Hanief, who projected himself to be highly placed person having deep rooted links in the Government.
The contact matured into a relationship as Hanief became the dharma brother of the complainant’s sister and assured that he being highly influential can arrange Class IV jobs for the sons of the complainant’s sister as he himself is the member of the selection committee and that some amount shall have to be paid which is to be shared amongst other members of the committee.
As a consequence of the allurement and the assurance an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh was paid by the complainant’s sister and Rs 1.5 lakh by the complainant. The accused Hanief thereafter called the complainant and the candidates at Srinagar where he, in connivance with accused Abdul Hamid Dar and Farooq Ahmed, created a fictitious interview and called one person named Sheikh Mohammad Shabir.
Thereafter, the candidates were asked to join at Shopian where accused Hanif introduced accused Farooq Ahmed as Director of Agriculture Department whereas later it was learnt that he was only Sub-Divisional Agricultural Officer. It was further alleged that the accused also called two relatives of the complainant to Srinagar for their appointment in Tourism Department and again took Rs 3 lakh from them. However, after waiting for a long time, when no response was received the accused were approached who assured the complainant that employment shall be provided at all costs.
To further convince the complainant accused Farooq Ahmed motivated the complainant that accused Abdul Hamid Dar and Hanief are frauds but he can manage the appointments and in this way again took huge amount of money from him. Thereafter, Farooq Ahmed in connivance with one Radhey Sham, son of Chuni Lal and Rajesh Kumar, son of Mohan Lal, both residents of Kathua, who acted as his agents, started taking money from different persons including the relatives of the complainant and thereby cheated the complainant as well as poor innocent villagers.
On receipt of this complaint, a preliminary verification was initiated in the Crime Branch and it was found that accused Zahid Dar alias Ab Hamid Dar, Hanief and Farooq Ahmed allured the complainant on the pretext of providing Govern-ment jobs to his relatives and others.
As per the bank statement obtained by the Crime Branch, an amount of Rs 15,17,000 was found received in the account of accused Zahid Dar whereas an amount of Rs 5,79,120 was found received in the account of Farooq.
