3 BSNL Exchanges lying defunct, public suffers

MENDHAR, Sept 23: Three BSNL Exchanges are said to be non- functional in Mendhar Sub Division for the last several weeks, causing most inconvenience to the public/ customers.
Official sources said that the Exchanges of the BSNL located at Harni, Dubraj and Dhargaloon are lying defunct/ non-functional and despite repeated complaints by the public the company is least bothered about the restoration of the services.
With the non-functioning of these telephone exchanges, nearly 600 landline connections were affected. Nearly, 200 more land-line phone connections were activated in the district after August 5, 2019 when Government revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
They said despite tireless efforts stress is being laid on the proper functioning of BSNL Exchange in the district so that people may not face any difficulty so far as communication facility is concerned but non- functioning of the three exchanges in Mendhar sub division was a cause of concern.
SDE Poonch, Subash Chandra when contacted admitted that three BSNL Exchanges situated at Harni, Dubraj and Dharglaoon were not functioning. He said that the Nigam was running short of cable and other equipments which led to the non-functioning of the exchanges and its towers. The machinery worth lakhs was also gathering dust there, he added,
Meanwhile, prominent citizen of the area have appealed CGM BSNL, Jammu to take the notice of the issue and provide required equipment to make these three BSNL telephone exchanges functional in Mendhar.
