3 cops suspended for escape of criminal

JAMMU, Sept 30: Three cops including an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) have been suspended after a notorious criminal escaped from their custody during his hearing in the court premises here.
As per police sources, a notorious criminal identified as Dilbagh Singh, son of Janak Singh of Ward Number 4, Simbal Camp was brought to court here from District Police Lines (DPL) Udhampur in the hearing of a case registered under FIR Number 28/16 under Section 170, 458 and 449 RPC with Police Station Miran Sahib.
After hearing, the cops in a negligence manner were taking him back to the DPL Udhampur and by taking benefit of the casual approach of the cops, the accused managed to escape.
Special police teams were constituted to re-arrest the accused, but all in vain. Despite lapse of around two days, the police is clueless about the whereabouts of the accused.
A case under FIR Number 119/19 under Sections 223 and 224 RPC was registered at Janipur Police Station and the cops identified as ASI Naresh Kumar, Havaldar Jamat Ali and SgCt Ashok Kumar Gill were taken into custody.
For negligence, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur has ordered suspension of these cops and ordered a departmental enquiry against them.
