REASI, June 23: The three-day Baba Aghar Jitto Mela concluded in Aghar village of Reasi district, drawing a large number of devotees who paid their obeisance at the shrine of Baba Jitto.
The event featured various departmental stalls aimed at raising awareness among devotees and local residents about numerous Government schemes. Attendees took full advantage of the information and benefits provided.
A major highlight of the Mela was the Indian Style Wrestling (dangal) organized by the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association. The wrestling event attracted considerable attention and showcased the cultural heritage of the region.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, DC Mahajan emphasized the importance of participating in such cultural and sports activities to steer clear of drug abuse. He highlighted the detrimental impact of drugs on individuals, their families and society at large.
DC Mahajan also lauded Shiv Kumar Sharma, President of the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, for his dedicated efforts in organizing the wrestling event. His contributions were praised for fostering community spirit and promoting traditional sports.
SDM Katra Piyush Dhotra, Tehsildar Katra Jatinder Singh and other officers were present on the occassion.
