UDHAMPUR, June 4: Famous Baba Samtal Mela was commenced at Rulani Patt Panchari (Udhampur ) with great fervour and gaiety today.
Thousands of people gathered at picturesque hilltop Rulani Patt and enjoyed well organised sports activities and cultural programmes presented by the talented students of 16 schools of Udhampur and Ramban districts.
Rulani Patt is a place of outstanding beauty and is situated on the top of a hill that forms natural boundary between Udhampur and Ramban districts. It is said that Pandavas during exile visited this holy place during that period. Panch Pandav Shrine called Jagati Bhim Devta having installed five big size statues of Pandavas is also located adjacent to this place. Baba Samtal Devta shrine is also located nearby and the devotees pay obeisance at this shrine.
Prominent among those who were present today at the mela included Mulkh Raj Bhamagi, social worker Master Bishan Dass Kakralia , Master Krishan Lal , Sarpanch Galiote Surjit Singh and Sarpanch Badhota Jai Pal Sharma.
