JAMMU, Nov 21: Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) on Monday inaugurated a three day long ‘Divisional Level Kala Utsav 2022-23, at Teachers’ Bhawan.
The event is being organized by the Cultural and Education Cell of the Directorate of School Education, Jammu, in which around 200 students from the 10 districts will display their talent in 10 different categories. These participants are the winners of district level competitions held earlier for boys and girls.
Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, the chief guest, said that Kala Utsav, which is a regular feature of the academic calendar, aims to promote finer arts in education and plays a major role in creating awareness about the rich cultural heritage of India and its vibrant diversity. “Such events and activities provide the students a platform to showcase and exhibit their talents in various fields” he added.
He said that one needs to think out of the box to succeed in life as in the present day world many career options have come up in the field of fine arts for the students to choose which are very rewarding. The Directorate is taking every possible step to help the students prepare and equip themselves for such avenues, he said.
On the first day of the Kala Utsav, 19 students competed in the Dance (Folk ) category and 16 students participated in Dance ( classical) category, while 18 students competed in the Acting ( Solo ) category.
Yogeshwar Singh and Romesh Parwana were the judges for the dance competition, while Dr. Sudhir Mahajan and Dr Sanjeev Gupta were the judges for the acting category.
Surjit Singh, Cultural and Education Cell, DSEJ presented the formal welcome address on the occasion with Ashutosh Sharma and Supriya Sharma coordinating the event.
