3-day historic Sankri Devta Mela concludes

PANCHARI, Aug 24: The 3-day historic Sankri Devta Mela in block Panchari of district Udhampur today concluded with overwhelming participation of over 50,000 devotees, who thronged the Mela site from different areas of the State to pay obeisance and to seek blessings of revered deity for overall peace and prosperity.
The Mela was organized under the overall supervision of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Sharma was the chief guest on the concluding day of the mela.
MLA Chenani, Krishan Chander Bhagat, Mela Officer (Tehsildar Panchari), Ramesh Singh, BDO Panchari, Shakeel Ahmed, Naib Tehsildar. Arif Tak, district officers of various departments, heads of different educational institutions, teachers and local Mela Committee members were present on the occasion.
During the three days of the Mela devotees from all walks of life paid obeisance at Sankri Devta.
During the festival, the Artists of Information Department, students of various educational institutions and folk artists belonging to surrounding areas presented folk dances and songs depicting the tradition of the area which was highly appreciated.
Number of departmental stalls, temporary sweet shops, toy shops and other eatable corners set up by the locals as well as outside vendors were the main attraction for the general public visiting the Mela site.
