3-day seminar on contribution of Kashmiri scholars to Shaiv Darshan concludes

JAMMU, Mar 21: The valedictory function of three-day National Seminar on “Contribution of Kashmiri Scholars in Shaiv Darshan and Literature” organized by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Shri Ranbir Campus, Jammu concluded today.
Prof Ramesh Kumar Pandey, Vice Chancellor, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Kendriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, New Delhi, was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof. Shridhar Vasishtha, former Vice Chancellor, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Kendriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, New Delhi, was the Academic Guest while, Prof. Nalini Kohli, former Director, Colleges, Higher Education, J&K Government was the distinguished guest. The valedictory function was presided over by Prof. P.N. Shastry. Convenors of the National Seminar, Prof. Manoj Kumar Mishra and Dr. Satish Kumar Kapoor were also present. Besides the participants, staff and students, a large number of prominent citizens were present in the audience.
On the occasion two books – “Sanskritshikshanam vidhayashcha” by Dr. Jagdish Raj Sharma and “Paraga (Lalleshwarivakya) by Dr. Pushkar Nath Raina – were also released on this occasion.
In his address, chief guest Prof Ramesh Kumar Pandey said that a birth in Sharada Pradesh (Kashmir) is possible only after accumulation of the merit of many births. Kashmiri poets have made a remarkable contribution to Sanskrit literature. Mahakavi Kalidasa was a Shaiv. Influence of Shaiv Darshan shines through the works of Kalidasa. In the tradition of Kashmiri poets, reference to Abhinava Gupta, Anandavardhana and Bhamah is found. Bhamaha has mentioned shabda and artha as attributes of kavya.
Prof Shridhar Vasishtha said that Sanskrit influences our lives from our birth to death. Origin of Shaiva Darshan lies in the Mohanjodaro civilization and its glimpses are also found in the Indus Valley Civilization.
Prof Nalini Kohli said that Sanskrit is the best among languages and constitutes the basis of human life. A number of luminaries have contributed to the glory of Sanskrit literature.
In his presidential address, Principal, Prof Parameshwar Narayan Shastry said that Sanskrit is the language of the common and all the lovers of Sanskrit have a bright future.
Associate Professor, Sharat Chander Sharma welcomed the guests while Dr Satish Kumar Kapoor presented the Vote of Thanks. Earlier, Dr D Dayanath, Asstt Professor, Department of Veda, recited the Vaidik Mangalacharanam while Dr Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Asstt. Professor Hindi recited Saraswati Vandana.
Bindraban Sher a well known scholar presented the paintings of Gaytri Kalapvirkasha and “Shubidar Kahsmri Batain’’ (Graceful Kashmri Lady to tow dignatories on the occasion.
The first session was presided over by Prof. Hari Narayan Tiwari while Dr Hari Shankar Tripathy and Sudeep Kumar Pathak were convener and co-convener. Dr Prabhat Kumar Mahapatra, Head of the Department of Jyotish, Jammu Campus, presented a paper on “Jonarajakritrajataranginyam Jyotisham.” Dr Sabitri Satapathy, Head of the Deptt of Darshan, Jammu Campus, presented a paper on “Shaiv Darshanasya Mahattva.” Dr Vijay Pal Kachhuwa, Asstt. Professor, Department of Education, Jammu Campus presented a paper on “Kashmir Shaiv Darshan ka Shaikshik Mahattva.” Dr Ramesh Kumar Bhatt of Jammu presented a paper on “Kashmir Shaiv Darshan through Panchvati and other Shiv Yogins such as Lalleshwari and Maa Alkeshwari.” Dr Jaya Shree Dash, Asstt. Professor Department of Vyakarana, Jammu campus, presented a paper on “Kashmirshaivadarshan mein Tattva Vimarsha.” Dr Paras Shastri from Jammu presented a paper on “Shaiv Darshan mein Anekata Evam Akatavada.” Dr Baldev Chand Shastri from Jammu presented a paper on “Shaiv Darshan mein Moordhanya Shri Utpaladev.” Dr Piyush Bala from Jammu presented a paper on “Kashmir Shaiv Darshan mein Param Satta ke Swaroop.” Dr Rajesh Sharma presented a paper on “Kashmir Shaiv Darshan par Vasugupta ka Prabhav.”
