RAMBAN, Mar 12: Army in collaboration with District Administration, Department of Tourism, JKTDC and local tour operators organized ‘Mahu Valley Winter Carnival and Cultural Festival’ at Mahu, here today.
The carnival was inaugurated by Commander 11 Sector RR, Joe Sabey, which will culminate on March 14. The grand event was conceptualized to promote offbeat tourist destinations in the Jammu division, which was thronged by tourists from the length and breadth of the country, ranging from Bengaluru to Chandigarh.
The carnival provided an opportunity for local entrepreneurs who are entering the tourism and hospitality industry. The festival comprised a wide variety of entertainment programs attracting interest from all sections of society.
The fest was witnessed by nearly 3000 locals and tourists. The festival was graced by senior military and civil dignitaries and complimented the organizers of this event. The locals also expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the Indian Army and Civil administration.
They further stated that such events besides promoting tourism and local culture bring self-pride to the village and its inhabitants.
Later, the chief guests felicitated the winners of the competitions as well as artists of cultural performances.
