SRINAGAR, June 5: Three persons lost their lives in separate incidents across Kashmir Valley.
A police spokesman said that a male unidentified decomposed body was recovered from Jhelum near Gantamulla bridge at Sheeri in Baramulla district. Police has initiated proceedings under Section 174 CrPC in this regard.
The spokesman said that Safa Kadal police station recovered a female body from Jhelum near Daresh Kadal, Srinagar. She was identified as Iqra Jan aged 16 years daughter of Ghulam Mohammad Hajam resident of Urdu Bazar, Fateh Kadal, who was missing since one week.
Reports said that a pall of gloom descended on the entire locality when the news about the death of Iqra reached people. Women came out and beat their chests while mourning over the death of the girl. Some of the locals alleged that Iqra has been raped and then thrown into the river. They demanded a thorough probe in the incident while demanding action against the culprits.
The spokesman said that Javid Ahmad Itoo son of Ghulam Ahmad resident of Milhura, Shopian got drowned in Rambiara nallah while extracting sand from the nallah at Milhura- Zainpora.
The body wassss fished out from the nallah and handed over to his relatives for last rites.
