64 new cases in Ladakh

JAMMU, Oct 18: Three persons including a woman died of COVID-19 in Jammu region while number of Corona positive cases have significantly declined in the region to 193, 119 in Jammu district alone while Udhampur district didn’t report a single case as 299 patients recovered from the virus today.
Among 119 positives of Jammu district, eight belonged to one family of Talab Tillo, six to another family of Raipur, four of a family from Akalpur, three family members each from Kanachak and Channi Himmat and seven CRPF personnel from Bantalab and Nagrota.
Thirty two persons tested positive for the virus in Jammu district during Rapid Antigen Testing. However, offices or market-wise sampling was not done today in view of Sunday.
An 83-year-old woman from Narwal Satwari in Jammu district, who was co-morbid and positive for COVID-19, died in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today where she was admitted since 4th October. A 78-year-old man from Dandi Bhaderwah in Doda district also died of co-morbidity and virus in the GMC Jammu where he was admitted for last six days, GMC Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said.
A 65-year-old man from Karan Nagar in Kathua district breathed his last in the GMC Kathua due to multiple ailments, a day after testing positive for the virus.
With today’s three casualties, Jammu region’s Corona toll has reached 457, the highest being 237 in Jammu district followed by 45 Rajouri, 42 Doda, 30 Kathua, 25 Udhampur, 24 Samba, 22 Poonch, 14 Kishtwar, 11 Ramban and seven in Reasi district.
Apart from 119 positives of Jammu district, 22 new cases were reported from Kishtwar, 14 Poonch, 12 Doda, nine Rajouri, six Ramban and three in Reasi district. Significantly, all of them were locals.
Of six positive cases in Samba district, three each were locals and travelers while out of just two positives cases in Kathua district, one each was local and traveler. Udhampur district didn’t report any Corona case today.
As against 193 new COVID cases in Jammu region today, 288 patients infected by the virus recovered. They include 140 in Jammu district, 47 Doda, 42 Rajouri, 36 Samba, 14 Poonch, five Kathua and four in Kishtwar district. No recoveries were reported today from Ramban, Reasi and Udhampur districts.
Jammu region’s Corona tally now stood at 35246. Of them, 3440 are active positives as 31349 persons have recovered from the virus while there have been 457 casualties.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 64 new Corona cases, 62 of them in Leh district and two in Kargil.
The new cases have taken Corona tally in Ladakh to 5598—3803 in Leh and 1795 in Kargil and active positives to 917—755 Leh and 162 Kargil while 4615 patients have recovered from the virus including 3020 in Leh and 1595 in Kargil.
Ladakh has reported 66 Corona casualties-28 in Leh and 38 in Kargil.
Of total active cases in Ladakh, 73 were admitted in COVID Hospitals, 601 were in home isolation, 66 in COVID Care Centres and 158 in Facility isolation.
