SRINAGAR, Oct 27: The Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department today banned three doctors from doing any private practice for violating Standard Treatment Guidelines issued by the National Health Authority.
An order issued here by the H&ME Department said that Dr Junaid Khursheed of District Hospital Budgam, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of SDH Sopore and Dr Yawar Nisar of Super Speciality Hospital Srinagar have been allegedly found violating the NHA guidelines.
An inquiry has been ordered against them and pending inquiry they have been banned from doing any private practice.
Meanwhile, an official of H&ME Department said that Government of J&K is conducting prescription audit of doctors so as to prevent medicos from prescribing the medicines and investigations which are not needed.
He said there are reports that some doctors especially under Ayushman Bharat scheme are prescribing unnecessary medicines and investigations to raise the huge bills. The audit has been started and action will be taken against the erring doctors, the official added.
