Locals reported that the predator entered the livestock shed, located near the family’s residence, causing extensive damage to their source of livelihood.
The leopard also attacked the livestock owner, who sustained injuries and was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
In response, a joint rescue operation was launched involving the Wildlife Department, Forest Protection Force, and Police.
After several hours of intense efforts, the leopard was tranquilized and safely captured, officials said.
“We received an emergency call at around 9 am and our teams were dispatched immediately. Despite the difficult terrain, the operation was successful,” officials said.
The attack has left the affected family devastated, as their livestock was their primary means of income.
Local residents have called on the Government to offer compensation for the considerable loss.
The captured leopard will be relocated to a forested area, far from populated zones, officials confirmed.
