3 drown in Jehlum

SRINAGAR, May 18: Police said that two boys Sameer Ahmad, 6, son of Mohammad Ismail and Dawood Ahmad Sheikh,6, son of Mohammad Subhan of Sheer colony, Sopore drowned in river Jehlum, near Sheer Colony, Sopore while bathing  last evening.
Navy divers, police and local administration swung into action and carried out search of the bodies of the two children who drowned yesterday. Both the bodies were fished out this afternoon and handed over to the relatives for burial.
Meanwhile, Surinder Lal, 22 son of Arvinder of Mukerian Hoshiarpur, Punjab working with RMKY Company as labour drowned in river Jhelum at Sangam, Anantnag. Bijbehara Police is on Job to fish out the body of drowned person.
Two persons including five year-old- boy were electrocuted in two separate incidents in the Valley.
One Adil Ahmad Shah, 24, son of Abdul Rehman resident of Jungle-Nard Gulzarpora, Awantipora received an electric shock and was critically injured when he was watering under construction Masjid Sharief and the water came into direct contact with high tension overhead power supply cables at Jungle-Nard Gulzarpora. He succumbed on way to the district hospital, Pulwama. The body of deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites. Awantipora police has registered a case in this regard.
Meanwhile, one Saqib Ahmad Najar, 5, son of Parvaiz Ahmad of Pomposh Colony Noorbagh, Srinagar received an electric shock at his home and was seriously injured. He was shifted to SMHS hospital where he breathed his last. The body of deceased boy was handed over to his family for last rites.
