Srinagar, Feb 28: Police today said to have arrested three drug peddlers in two different instances in Awantipora and recovered contraband/psychotropic substance from their possession.
Awantipora police arrested two drug peddlers identified as Gh Mohi-ud-din Bhat alias Cheeni son of Gh Mohd resident of Tral Bala & Feroze Ahmad Pinchoo son of Ab Ahad Pinchoo resident of Jawberra Awantipora at a checkpoint established at Kharmoad. 22 bottles of Codeine Phosphate concealed in two polythene bags were recovered from their possession.
At another instance, police said, a police party of Police Station Awantipora at a checking point established at Padgampora arrested a drug peddler identified as Abdul Aziz Dar son of Abdul Razaq resident of Kharmod Awantipora.
“On search 05 Kgs of grinded cannabis concealed in a bag was recovered from his possession,” police said.
The arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases vide FIR Numbers 25/2022 and 26/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora & investigation have been taken up.
