KATRA, Apr 12: Police today arrested three drug peddlers and seized cannabis from their possession.
The accused, identified as Liaquat Ali son of Mohd Kala, resident of Chak Bhagtha, Katra along with Deepesh Pal, son of Ranveer Singh of Kashganj, UP A/P Matyal, Katra, and Sanju Kumar son of Rashid Kumar of Landar, Panchari, District Udhampur were consuming and carrying narcotic substances in an abundant shed at Nomain near Peer Baba.
Acting on an information in this regard, Police party of Police Station Katra raided the spot and arrested the trio. 82 grams of Ganja & 34 grams of Charas were recovered from the possession of Deepesh Pal while 51 grams of Ganja & 16 grams of Charas were recovered from each of the other two.
In this regard, a case FIR under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and investigation is ongoing on to unearth backward and forward linkage. The whole operation was led by SHO Katra Inspr Nishant Gupta under the supervision of SDPO Katra Surinder Singh Baloria.
