JAMMU, Mar 23: Banihal, Ramban and Pacca Danga police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered cannabis, brown sugar and poppy straw from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka near T-Chowk and intercepted two pedestrians coming from Railway Station side.
During checking, police team recovered 2 kilograms of cannabis from the possession of the pedestrians and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmed Dar, son of Ghulam Qadir Dar of Zainpora District and Ishfaq Majid Lohar, son of Abdul Majid Lohar, a resident of Asher, Tehsil Banihal District Ramban.
The arrest and recovery has been made by a police team headed by SHO Banihal Inspector Aijaz Ahmed Wani under the supervision of Sajjad Sarwar SDPO Banihal, Sanjay Parihar Additional SP Ramban and Anita Sharma SSP Ramban.
In another similar incident, a team from Ramban Police Station led by SHO Ramban Inspector Kotwal under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma laid a naka near Mihar and apprehended a drug peddler along with 50 grams of brown sugar.
The accused has been identified as Azad Ahmed, son of Sanaullah Ganai of District Anantnag.
Meanwhile, a team from Pacca Danga Police Station led by SHO Inspector Karan Chalotra apprehended a drug peddler along with 3.79 kilograms of poppy straw during checking near Shakuntala Crossing.
The accused has been identified as Mandeep Kumar, son of Pyare Lal of Punjab.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Banihal, Ramban and Pacca Danga Police Stations and investigation started.
