3 drug peddlers arrested with poppy straw, heroin

RAMBAN, Apr 5: Batote, Bhaderwah and Supwal police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered poppy straw and heroin from their possession.
As per police sources, a team from Batote Police Station laid a naka near Nashri Tunnel and intercepted a truck bearing registration number HR37D-5567.
During checking, police recovered 300 kilograms of poppy straw concealed in 12 gunny bags and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Nazir Ahmed, son of Nittu Gujjar, a resident of District Una, Himachal Pradesh.
A case under FIR Number 31/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered against the accused person at Police Station Batote and investigation has been geared up to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
Police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Nazir Ahmed made the arrest under supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Bhaderwah Police Station along with DSB officials led by ASI Nasir Ahmed laid a naka and intercepted a person, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police recovered 350 grams cannabis from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Baid Nath, son of Brij Nath of Haleel Saroor, Tehsil Drabshaala District Kishtwar.
A case under FIR Number 39/19 under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bhaderwah and investigation started.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SHO Bhaderwah Inspector Muneer Khan, SDPO Bhaderwah Iftikhar Ahmed Qureshi, Additional SP Bhaderwah Raj Singh Goria and SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir.
In another similar incident, a team from Supwal Police Post apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 6 grams heroin from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Shamsh Din, son of Yousaf, a resident of Rakh Brotia, Tehsil Vijaypur, District Samba.
A case under FIR Number 77/19 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
