JAMMU, Sept 13: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) in Sarwal arrested three drug peddlers from Talli Morh area here today.
The operation also led to the seizure of 400 grams of charas, Rs 30,000 in narcotic proceeds, two weighing machines, and various other incriminating items.
The police also confiscated a motorcycle (JK02CU/5661) and a scooty (JK02BM/0142) used by the suspects to transport the drugs.
A police official said that the suspects, identified as Pankaj Kumar of Newplot, Aryaman Mahajan of Vikas Nagar, and Amit Sharma from Chenani, Udhampur, attempted to flee when signalled to stop by the police.
However, quick action by the police team led to their immediate interception, he said.
A thorough search of their vehicles revealed a range of items linked to their drug-peddling activities, including five mobile phones, an Apple tablet, a hookah, and small packing pouches used for distributing drugs, he said.
Following their arrests, the police official said, the police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the law and launched an investigation to uncover the suspects’ broader network.
Authorities are looking into both the source of the drugs and potential buyers in the region, aiming to dismantle any organized drug trafficking rings.
