3 drug peddlers held with poppy straw, brown sugar

Srinagar, Aug 9: The police today said to have arrested 3 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Officers from PS Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Behrampora intercepted three persons identified as Qazi Burhan son of Qazi Ab. Hameed, Qazi Asif son of Qazi Dawood Ahmad, both residents of Qazipora Delina and Imran Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Qadir Sofi resident of Rawathpora Delina.
“During checking, officers were able to recover 5 Kgs of Poppy straw and 03 grams of Brown sugar from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody,” police said.
Similarly, acting on specific information regarding the drug peddling, a Police party of PS Sheeri under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla recovered 40 Kgs of Poppy Straw from the house of Ghulam Nabi Dar son of Mohd Shafi Dar resident of Paliharan Sheeri. However, the accused is absconding and efforts are on to effect his arrest.
Accordingly, police have registered cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
