3 drug peddlers nabbed with contraband

Srinagar, Dec 27: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police today arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
A Police party of PS Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Laroo intercepted a Load Carrier bearing registration number JK03J-9355 with 02 persons on board.
“They have been identified as Umer Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar resident of Butt Tachloo and Aadil Ahmad Makroo son of Abdul Rashid Makroo resident of Rahpora Khudwani,” police said.
During the search, police officers were able to recover 21Kgs of Poppy Straw from their possession.
“They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. Load Carrier used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” police said,
In another action, a police party of PS Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Choimulla arrested a suspicious person who tried to flee after noticing a police party.
“He has been identified as Abdul Rashid Shah son of Late Abdul Kabir Shah resident of Guchchan Sheikhpora, Shishtergam. During the search, 270gms of Charas was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stand registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
