JAMMU, Aug 20: Three staff members posted in the office of SSP Jammu, four more doctors including an Anaesthesia Specialist and one former Medical Superintendent of Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) Jammu, three employees of Narayana Hospital Katra, two more Probationary Sub Inspectors (PSIs) from Red Zone Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), two more employee of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Board (SMVDSB), two siblings from Bahu Fort, nine months baby from Sainik Colony, PSO of Sub Judge Udhampur and six and four members of two families in Kathua town were among 116 persons who today tested positive for Coronavirus in Jammu region while 117 patients were treated and discharged.
Three police personnel posted in IT section of the SSP Jammu office today tested positive for COVID-19. One of them had gone to house on leave and reported positive on return. Two others were his contacts.
SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil told the Excelsior that contacts of three positive cases have been traced and isolated for sampling while the IT section was sanitized. However, the SSP office will remain operational.
Police has, meanwhile, strengthened COVID management in Jammu district.
“Any police personnel returning from house after leave will be allowed to join after testing negative for the virus. The police personnel on Naka duties have also been asked to maintain adequate distancing during checking,” Patil said.
All police personnel across the district have been asked to take extra precautions for COVID management both inside and outside Police Stations and Police Posts.
All symptomatic police personnel will be quarantined and subjected to testing for Coronavirus, he said.
Four more doctors today tested positive for the virus in Jammu.
They include an Anaesthesia Specialist posted in Gandhi Nagar Hospital, a former Medical Superintendent of the SSH Jammu hailing from Gandhi Nagar and one Post Graduate (PG) student each from Orthopaedics Department in the GMC Jammu and Gynaecology Department in the SMGS Hospital.
GMC Jammu Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said the doctors have been shifted to hospitals.
Two more Probationary Sub Inspectors under training at SKPA Udhampur have tested positive for the virus. Over 30 PSIs and other rank police personnel have already tested Corona positive in the SKPA Udhampur which has been declared as Red Zone.
PSO of Sub Judge Udhampur Sandeep Kour, Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) tested positive for the virus today after which the Judge and her staff members have gone into self-quarantine.
Principal District and Session Judge Mohan Lal Manhas took up the issued with the District Magistrate Udhampur, CMO and CEO Municipal Council. The entire court complex and residences of the Judicial Officers were disinfected.
Fifty nine persons today tested positive in Jammu district which was more than half of the total positive cases (114) of the Jammu region. Of 59 positives, 31 had no travel history.
Two siblings aged 22 and 21 from Bahu Fort, two from Old Rehari and a nine-month-old baby from Sainik Colony also tested positive in Jammu.
Other positives of Jammu district include seven-year-old boy from Trikuta Nagar, 29-year-old youth from Gangyal, 27-year-old woman from Sarwal, middle-aged man from Talab Tillo, 55-year-old woman from Sainik Colony, 46-year-old man and 25-year-old woman from Canal Road, 29-year-old woman from Greater Kailash, 35-year-old man from Channi, 45-year-old man and teenager from Gangyal, 37-year-old woman from Jhullaka Mohalla, 55-year-old woman from Roop Nagar, an old man from New Plot, youth from Bakshi Nagar, youths from Akhnoor and Prem Nagar, 55-year-old man from Bishnah, 31-year-old man from Janipura, 54-year-old from Gandhi Nagar and 47-year-old from Ambphalla.
Apart from two PSIs and PSO of Sub Judge, 13 more persons have tested positive for Coronavirus in Udhampur district including two Biharis, three CRPF personnel, two Army and one BSF jawans, three civilians from Nallah Goran and one person each from Hari Nagar, Old Bus Stand and Omara Morh, District Magistrate Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla said.
Kathua district reported 14 new cases today, Deputy Commissioner OP Bhagat said, adding they include six family members from Ward No. 8, four family members from Ward No. 17 and one person from Ward No. 5.
All these Wards in Kathua town have been declared as Containment Zones, Bhagat said.
Of five other positives of Kathua, three were travellers and two contacts of Corona patients.
Nine persons today tested positive for the virus in Samba district including two Army soldiers from Bari Brahamana and two CRPF personnel from Smailpur.
Other positives of Samba district were one person each from Nathwal RS Pura, Kothi Morh Bari Brahamana and Teli Basti Bari Brahamana and two from Uttar Pradesh, SSP Samba Shakti Pathak said.
Of six persons who reported positive in Reasi district, three were staff members of Narayana Hospital Kakryal Katra, two more employees of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and one CRPF jawan.
Seven persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Rajouri district including five travellers and two locals.
A couple was tested positive in Thathri area of Doda district and a woman from Banihal with travel history of Anantnag in Ramban district. Gandoh has been declared as Containment Zone in Doda district.
Two persons tested positive in Poonch district-one each traveller and local while Kishtwar district didn’t report any Corona case today.
Today, 117 Corona patients were declared as treated for the virus after testing negative and discharged from various hospitals of Jammu region, the highest being 78 in Jammu district, 17 in Reasi, seven each in Poonch and Kathua districts, five Rajouri, two Doda and one Udhampur.
With today’s positives, Jammu region’s Corona tally has gone up to 6761 and that of active cases to 1488 as 5233 patients have been treated and discharged while there have been 41 casualties.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 29 new cases-16 in Leh and 13 in Kargil taking the UT’s Corona tally to 2077 and active cases to 623 as 1436 patients have been treated while there have been 18 casualties.
