3 Health Centres found locked during working hours

JAMMU, Sept 26: Health and Medical Education Minister Bali Bhagat ordered attachment of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Jammu Dr Rabinder Khajuria and suspension of 16 doctors and number of para-medical staff as three Urban Health Centres (UHCs) were found locked while staff was missing from many other Centres during surprise raids conducted by the Minister from 5 pm to 8 pm today.
Jammu has total of 22 Urban Health Centres in the City and peripheries.
Bhagat told the Excelsior that three Centres at Talab Khatikan, Shastri Nagar and Talab Tillo were found locked during the working hours. Entire staff of these three Health Centres was placed under suspension, he said.
He added that in some other Centres too, the staff was found missing.
“In view of dereliction of duty to ensure proper functioning of Urban Health Centres, CMO Jammu Dr Rabinder Khajuria has been attached while 16 doctors, where Centres were found locked and others, who were absent from duty, have been placed under suspension,” the Health Minister said, adding that Dr Sanjay Turki, Deputy CMO, has been given charge of the CMO Jammu.
Bali Bhagat said apart from doctors, entire para-medical staff posted at three Centres, which were locked, has also been suspended.
“Directions have been issued for posting of new staff at the Urban Health Centres to make them function properly to benefit the patients,” Bhagat said.
