3 HoDs, 5 Professors among 16 faculty members promoted

JAMMU, Feb 7: After new rules for promotion of faculty members of Government Medical and Dental Colleges, the Government today ordered promotion of 16 faculty members of the two colleges including five Associate Professors as Professors, six Assistant Professors as Associate Professors and five Lecturers as Assistant Professors.
The promoted faculty members included three Head of Departments (HoDs), official sources said.
The Government ordered promotions vide its Order No. 96-HME of 2013 dated 7/2/2013. Commissioner/ Secretary Health and Medical Education Manoj K Dwivedi approved the appointment orders.
Dr Bhupesh Khajuria, HoD Forensic Medicines, Government Medical College, Jammu has been promoted from Associate Professor to the post of Professor.
Dr Dinesh Kumar, HoD Preventive Social Medicines (PSM), GMC Jammu, has been promoted as Associate Professor from Assistant Professor.
Dr Parveen Lone, HoD Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Jammu, has been promoted as Associate Professor from Assistant Professor.
Dr Shashi Sudan has been promoted from Associate Professor to Professor in Microbiology Department of Government Medical College, Jammu.
Dr Sunil Sachdeva has been promoted from Associate Professor to Professor in Physiology Department. Dr Mrityunjay Gupta has been promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor in the same Department.
Highest numbers of four faculty members have been promoted in Ophthalmology Department.
Dr Dinesh Gupta has been promoted from Associate Professor to Professor while Dr Ashok Sharma has been promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor in Ophthalmology Department.
Dr Sanjay Kai and Dr Hans Raj, Lecturers in Ophthalmology have been promoted as Assistant Professors.
Dr Ganshyam Saini has been promoted from Associate Professor to Professor in Pediatrics Department while Dr Jyotsana Suri has been promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor in Pathology Department.
In Radiotherapy Department, Dr Rahul Sharma has been promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor while Dr Sandeep Kour has been promoted from Lecturer to Assistant Professor.
Dr Nitin Gautam has been promoted from Lecturer to Assistant Professor in Prostho Dontics Department of Dental College, Jammu while Dr Ajay Gupta has been promoted from Lecturer to Assistant Professor in Conservative Dentistry Department of Dental College.
The Government has recently decided to reduce promotion period of the faculty members in the Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges of the State to fill up vacancies.
