JAMMU, Apr 24: Three Sarpanches from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir were today felicitated on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day for their excellent work.
Nana Jee Wattal from Kashmir, Sarpanch Akingam B; Makhan Singh Manhas, Sarpanch Sira, Latti, Sudh Mahadev and Pinki Devi, Sarpanch Sorelain, Parnoti Block Kathua were honoured with Atmanirbhar Bharat Rashtriya Gramya Sashaktikaran Puraskar 2022 at an impressive function held at Dehradun, Uttrakhand.
Awards were presented by Rekha Arya, Uttrakhand Minister for Panchayati Raj. Subodh Uniyal, Minister for Agriculture was also present on the occasion. A total of 32 Sarpanches from all over India were given the award.
Speaking on the occasion, Nana jee Wattal said Akingam B Panchayat has achieved one hundred percent attendance in schools. There have been no drop outs and during the Covid period, there were no Covid deaths as Covid protocol was adhered to strictly.
Nana Jee Wattal and Makhan Singh Manhas received the trophy and certificates in person, while Pinki Devi participated virtually. The Sarpanches thanked the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha’s administration for making Panchayats vibrant and for providing funds for speedy execution of works.
Today’s function was organised as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
