Council Sectt shut till Mar 31

JAMMU, Mar 23: Three inhabitants of Kargil who had gone for pilgrimage in Iran were reported dead there while as the Secretariat of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil has been shut till March 31 in view of lockdown in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
LAHDC Kargil Chairman-cum-CEC Feroz Khan confirmed to the Excelsior that three pilgrims from Kargil have died in Marshad and Qym cities of Iran where they had gone for pilgrimage.
“We are verifying whether the three pilgrims died of Coronavirus,” Khan said, adding they hailed from three different villages of Kargil district.
While one of them was aged 55, two others were around 70 years old.
Khan said he has received reports that all three pilgrims have been buried in Iran.
As many as 13 persons have so far tested positive for COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Some of them had returned from pilgrimage of Iran while others were either their relatives or had got in touch with them.
Meanwhile, in view of the current scenario due to COVID-19, the LAHDC Kargil Council Secretariat will remain closed till March 31.
In order to ensure adequate quarantine facilities to deal with suspected cases of COVID-19 in Kargil district as per the mandated protocol and SOPs, District Magistrate Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary today issued an order for establishment of additional Quarantine Centers, if required.
According to the order, the Assistant Director Tourism Kargil has been directed to immediately keep 14 hotels/resorts functional to establish the additional quarantine facilities.
The DM directed the officers concerned to ensure adequate arrangements in these additional quarantine centers as per the SOPs prescribed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of India.
Meanwhile, the District authorities today sealed two hardware and one carpentry shop in Kargil town for violating the orders under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant sections of Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The authorities have reiterated the appeal to the general public to cooperate with the administration in this unprecedented situation to contain the spread of COVID-19 and further said that strict action under relevant sections of IPC would be taken against people violating rules and those putting others life at risk.
Meanwhile, as directed by the District Magistrate, the Chief Medical Officer Kargil has issued advisories in the interest of public health.
The order read that in order to avoid public gatherings in the hospitals and hospitals’ premises, the Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kargil will not allow more than one attendant at OPD and Casualty.
Furthermore, one attendant with the indoor patient will be provided food by the Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kargil.
The order further said that all the Consultants/Practitioners are directed to stop private practice with immediate effect and admission for IPD shall be minimized except emergencies and patients referred by the referral health institutions.
