RAJOURI, June 15: The local police today busted an inter-district narcotic smuggling module with the arrest of three Kashmiri youth and recovered two kilograms charas from their possession.
Official sources said that during random checking of vehicles, a team of Special Operation Group (SOG) of Rajouri police headed by DySP (Operations), Sukhdev Singh under the supervision of Additional SP, Mohd Yousuf laid a naka in the town and signalled a car to stop but driver of the car sped away breaking naka.
The Policemen acting swiftly chased the vehicle and intercepted it at some distance and detained three people travelling in the car including its driver.
They included, Riaz Ahmed Dar (30), son of Mohd Shaban Dar, resident of Kanzar; Shahid- ul- Islam (23), son of Imtiaz Ahmed Mir, resident of Rather Pura and Bashir Manzar (28), son of Bashir Ahmed Tali, resident of Ghath Mohallah, Pulwama in Kashmir.
During frisking, the police recovered nearly 2 kg charas from their possession. A case FIR No 308/2018 U/S 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station, Rajouri against them.
The accused have been placed under sustained interrogation by Rajouri police team. The police was looking for the local links of the drug peddlers.
The official claimed that anti-drugs operations has been launched vigorously by District Police Rajouri under the supervision of SSP Yougal Manhas and stern action has been initiated against people involved in drug peddling.
