3 killed, 3 injured in road mishap

KATHUA, July 10: Three persons including a mother-son do were killed while three children were injured when a Santro car bearing registration number JK08-C 8558 skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near village Mahnu few kilometers away from Ranjit Sagar dam today.
The deceased were identified as Ashok Kumar Sharma, S/O Girdhari Lal Sharma of Kathua, his mother Pushpa Devi, and Ranju wife of Divinder Lal of Kathua. The injured have been identified as Aditi daughter of Divinder, her brother Sidarth and Aditya Sharma , S/O Ashok Kumar Sharma. Both Aditi and Aditiya Sharma were shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment in a serious condition while Sidarth is under going treatment at Basholi Sub District Hospital.
Police said Ashok Kumar Sharma who was driving the car lost control over steering after reaching near village Mahnu and the car fell into a deep gorge resulting into the death of three inmates of the car and injury to three children.
The local people and police rushed to the spot and shifted them to Mahanpur Hospital where the doctors declared three of them as brought dead.
The dead bodies were handed over to the families after postmortem for cremation later in the afternoon.
The Basholi police have also registered a case under relevant sections of the law.
After receiving the message the DC Kathua Ajay Singh Jamwal along with officers of tehsil administration rushed to the spot. The DC along with SDM Basholi, SDPO Basohli, Tehsildar Mahanpur also visited the Trauma Centre Mahanpur to see the condition of injured and asked the authorities to shift the injured to GMC, Jammu for further treatment.
