JAMMU, Feb 12: Three persons were killed while nine others were injured in road accidents today.
As per police sources, a conductor and his associate were killed in truck accident near Peer Baba on Manda road.
The truck bearing registration number JK02AE-0242 of Mechanical Engineering Department was on its way to Jammu from Nagrota, when the driver lost control over it and the vehicle plunged into gorge near Peer Baba on Manda road.
The profusely bleeding victims were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where they failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased were identified Mohinder Lal, son of Sat Pal of Kotli Shah Doula Tehsil RS Pura District Jammu and Ajay Kumar, son of Mulk Raj of Shakti Nagar District Jammu.
After conducting autopsy, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites.
Meanwhile, a driver was killed after a vehicle he was driving skidded off the road and fell into river Chenab at Drabshalla near Kuligad area of Kishtwar district.
The deceased was identified as Abrar Hussain, son of Ghulam Rasool, a resident of Gwari Bhallesa, Gandoh, District Doda.
He was initially rushed to CHC Thathri and later referred to GMC Doda, but he succumbed on way to hospital.
After autopsy, the body of the deceased was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
In another incident, nine persons were injured when the rashly and negligently driven mini-bus bearing registration number JK02S-1102 skidded off the road and turned turtle near Ram Nagar colony area of Akhnoor.
After getting information, police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of locals.
All the injured persons were shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor, where their condition was stated to be stable when last reports came in.
The injured were identified as Priyanka Devi, wife of Sonu Sharma of Chowki Choura, Shankutla Devi, wife of late Bodh Raj of Dhok Jagir, Neera Sharma, wife of Hans Raj of Serh, Pritam Singh, son of Pola Singh of Sohal, Kripal Kour, wife of Pritam Singh of Sohal, Seema Sharma, wife of Ashwani Kumar of Naiwala, Ratna Devi, wife of Joginder Sharma of Sohal, Pooja Devi, wife of Sanjay Kumar of Serh and Desh Raj, son of Balak Ram of Dokh Jagir (Sohal).
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Nagrota, Kishtwar and Akhnoor Police Stations and investigation started.
