UDHAMPUR, May 1: A two-year old child and his mother among three passengers died and eight others were injured when a Tata Sumo, carrying them, rolled down into a deep gorge near Ghora Nallah in Ghordi block of Tehsil Ramnagar, here today..
The accident took place when the ill-fated Tata Sumo, bearing registration number JK02U-4861 was on its way from Ghordi to Ghora Nallah. The vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down about 200 deep gorge.
Three persons died on the spot and they were identified as Sunita Devi (27) wife of Vijay Kumar of Ghora Nallah, Poli Devi (30) wife of Sher Singh and their two-year old son Arjun Singh of Upper Barmin.
Police shifted the injured to Ghordi Hospital where doctors referred them to District Hospital Udhampur. Three of the injured, identified as Romesh Singh (35) son of Sumit Singh of Barmin, Mohan Singh (25) son of Sunil Singh of Barmin and Sher Singh (35) son of Jamil Singh of Upper Barmin were further referred to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of their critical condition.
Identity of the other injured, was established as Jeet Singh (39) son of Dharm Singh of Ghora Nallah , Vijay Kumar (30) son of Mohan Lal of Ghora Nallah, Rakh Devi (20) wife of Mohan Lal of Barmin, Vijay (34) son of Chatu of Ghora Nallah and Jaswant Singh (25) son of Jakir Singh of Upper Barmin.
Meanwhile, in a separate road mishap, three children among four persons were injured when a mini-bus carrying a marriage party, skidded off the road and turned turtle near Battal Morh, this evening.
The injured were identified as Inder Singh (driver), son of Late Karnail Singh of Battal Balian Udhampur, Rahul Singh (12), son of Karnail Singh of Majote Udhampur, Ratish Singh (11) son of Mohan Singh of Majote and Anshu (12), son of Raj Singh of Majote.
The minibus, bearing registration number JK02G-8381, was on way from Supply Morh Udhampur to Battal Balian and was carrying a marriage party when it met with the accident.
The injured were admitted in District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred the driver to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of grievous injuries.
