3 killed in mishap, 2 injured

JAMMU, Oct 9: Three persons including a constable were killed and two others seriously injured, when the tempo traveler, they were traveling in plunged into a gorge near Shallala Morh, falling under the jurisdiction of Gandoh Police Station.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AF-5013 was on its way to Gowari from Gandoh and the driver lost control over the steering, resulting the vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into 250 feet deep gorge near Shallala Morh.
On getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. Deputy Commissioner Doda Mubarak Singh and SP Doda Arif Reshu also visited the spot and personally supervised the rescue operation.
After hectic efforts, bodies of three persons were recovered and two others were rescued, who had received serious injuries. The injured were rushed to District Hospital Doda, where they were undergoing treatment, when last reports came in.
The deceased have been identified as Constable Saif Sin of Changa, Gandoh, Jaffer Ahmed, son of Mohammad Rafiq of Mulana and Zaheer Abbas, son of Mohammad Sultan of Malikpura.
The injured were identified as Noor Mohammad, son of Sher Din and Nasir Ahmed, both residents of District Doda.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Gandoh Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad expressed shock over the tragic accident and directed the Doda district administration to provide free treatment to injured persons.
