KARGIL, Aug 31: Three persons including a woman were killed and another one was injured when an i10 car, they were travelling in, skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge at village Fokar in Shargole tehsil of Kargil district late this evening.
The i10 car bearing No. 1799 JK07 met with the accident around 7 pm at Fokar, about 42 kilometers from district headquarters of Kargil, killing one civilian on spot and injuring three others.
Locals and police shifted three injured to the District Hospital Kargil, where two of them succumbed to their injuries. They have been identified as Dolkar wife of Tashi Tundup and Stanzin Tharpa son of Sonam Tundup. Their bodies have been kept in the mortuary of the District Hospital, Kargil and will be handed over to their family members tomorrow after completion of legal formalities.
Identity of one of the dead, who had died on spot, is yet to be established. His body has been brought to the District Hospital Kargil.
The injured has been identified as Sonam Tundup son of Tsetar Paljor. He has been admitted in the District Hospital Kargil in serious condition.
Police have registered a case in the accident for further investigations. However, reasons behind the accident were yet to be ascertained.
