BARAMULLA: Three associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were arrested by security forces along with a pistol and ammunition in Sopore district of north Kashmir, a police official said on Sunday.
”The accused have been identified as Shabir Ahmed Mir alias Molvi, Mohammad Abbas Mir and Fahim Nabi Bhat alias Doctor, all residents of Sopore,” he said.
He further said following specific information, troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), CRPF and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at Tarzoo, Sopore in this district.
During the joint operation, security forces arrested three LeT associates and recovered one Chinese pistol, two pistol magazines and 73 pistol rounds.
He said an FIR under relevant section of law has been registered in Police Station Bomie and investigation has been taken up. ”More arrests are expected in coming days”, he added.
