3 militant modules busted, 18 arrested

5 boys planning to join militancy rescued

SRINAGAR, Dec 3: In a major success to security forces, police today busted three militant modules, which were carrying attacks in South Kashmir and planning weapon snatching in North Kashmir and arrested 18 of their associates in Kashmir.
Police said that in view of the surge in attacks in Tral area of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a special team was constituted to investigate them. They said that on the basis of material evidence collected, four persons identified as Younis Nabi Naik son of Ghulam Nabi Naik, resident of Pinglish, Fayaz Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani, resident of Reshipora, Riyaz Ahmad Ganaie son of Mohammad Ramzan Ganaie, resident of Nigeenpora and Bilal Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Rasool, resident of Hafoo Nigeenpora were arrested.

Police said that during the investigation into the cases, another module was busted in Khrew area of Pampore in which six associates of JeM identified as Javaid Ahmad Parray son of Mohammad Shaban, resident of Bethan Khrew, Yasir Bashir Wani son of Bashir Ahmad Wani, resident of Babapora Khrew, Tahir Yousuf Lone son of Mohammad Yousuf Lone, resident of Khrew, Rafiq Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad, resident of Sharshali Khrew, Javaid Ahmad Khanday son of Ghulam Ahmad Khanday resident of Khrew and Imran Nazir son of Nazir Ahmad Najar, resident of Mandakpaul Naimsaab Khrew were arrested.
Police said that huge quantity of incriminating materials was recovered from the module including gelatin sticks, detonators, materials for making IEDs and grenades.
And police in Baramulla today busted a weapon snatching militant module, which was hatching a criminal conspiracy to snatch weapons from on duty police personnel. Police said that eight militant accomplices were detained in Baramulla, Tangmarg and Srinagar areas. A case (FIR No. 102/2018 under Section 18, 38 UA (P) Act) was registered in Police Station Tangmarg and further investigation was initiated in the mater.
During the course of investigation, incriminating materials including arms and ammunitions were recovered from them.
And in the meantime, Srinagar Police today rescued 5 boys who were trying to join militancy.
Police said that parents of some boys from Srinagar reported to police that they received phone calls from their kids who had left for their school in morning informing that they are going to join the militancy.
“To ensure quick and timely action, Srinagar police constituted a special team and with the help of families, strenuous efforts led to tracing of all the five missing boy. They were brought back safely. It is learnt that the boys were threatening to join militancy whereas no active association of these boys could be found with any outfit”, police said.
Later, all the five boys were counselled and handed over to the parents. “Timely information and efforts of family played a key role in this endeavour”, police said.
Meanwhile, a group of militants including Mufti Tariq alias Shameem Molvi of Hizbul Mujahideen escaped from Imam Sahib area of Shopian after a brief shoot out.
Security forces this morning launched search operation in Sagran Imam Sahab area of Shopian. The militants escaped after a brief exchange of fire.
The searches were intensified in the area after shootout but no contact was established with the militants and the operation was called off later.
Meanwhile, mobile Internet service has been restored in the district. The service was suspended soon after the security forces laid a siege to the area.
