JAMMU, June 24: An Army soldier was injured while three militants were hit by the bullets and taken away by Pakistan army in an exchange of fire when the militants were attempting to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in Gulpur area in Poonch district late last night
The encounter took place in the forward Ranger Nallah area of the Gulpur sub sector late last night when the Indian troops noticed at least three heavily armed militants trying to infiltrate into India under the cover of thick foliage and darkness, the officials said.
A soldier was injured in the brief firing and the militants managed to slip into the nearby dense forest. Reinforcements were rushed to the area and a massive search operation was launched this morning.

A contact was established with three infiltrating militants in broad day-light this morning and they tried to enter into the Indian side breaching the LoC resulting into fresh exchange of firing.
“In the firing, three infiltrators were hit by bullets and they were taken away by the Pakistan army,” the officials said, adding it couldn’t be ascertained whether they are dead or only injured.
Army has been maintaining high alert on the LoC.
The Army said an intelligence-based counter-infiltration operation ‘Resham’ was jointly launched by the Army and police.
In a tweet on its official handle, Army’s Jammu-based White Knight Corps said, “Infiltration bid eliminated in Krishna Ghati Sector on 23/24 June, in which one soldier suffered gunshot wound & evacuated. 3 infiltrators running towards LoC (Line of Control) engaged by own troops & seen falling down near LoC.”
