3 MLAs stage walk-outs

JAMMU, Feb 26: Three Opposition Members today staged walk-outs in the Legislative Assembly on different issues.
PDP MLA, Ch Zulfikar Ali staged walk-out while expressing dis-satisfaction over the Planning Minister’s reply to his question regarding release of funds while as BJP MLA, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi walked out of the House for not being given opportunity to raise supplementary.
Jammu State Morcha MLA, Ashwani Sharma staged walk-out over non-implementation of Singhal Committee recommendation.
“The Singhal Committee has recommended that all seats available in the professional colleges of Jammu region should be allotted to the youth of the region”, he said, adding “on one side the Government admits that such a recommendation has been made but on the other side it is not implementing the same”.
After agitating over the issue for some time, JSM MLA staged walk-out.
In the written reply to the question of JSM Member, the Government stated that as per legal opinion given by the legal experts and various Supreme Court judgments it is not legally permissible to make separate merit lists for the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Government further said that all the recommendations made by the Singhal Committee except the one relating to separate select lists on region basis in view of the legal position on the subject have been implemented.
