JAMMU, Oct 18: A globally acclaimed competition among researchers and academia, popularly known as 3MT (Three-Minute Thesis) was held at Central University of Jammu wherein young researchers participated and presented with full gusto.
3MT is evolving as one of the best practices of the Central University of Jammu. CUJ has taken a lead in registering with the University of Queensland to organise 3 MT which has been adopted by 200 universities across the globe.
3MT is a global level competition which was developed by the University of Queensland, Australia with the objective of providing a platform to young researchers to present to effectively explain research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience in Three Minutes with only one PowerPoint slide.
Young enthusiastic researchers of sciences stream from Central University of Jammu and various other universities, participated in the 3 MT.
Speaking on the occasion Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor and Patron of CUJ 3MT, shared his vision to make research relevant to societal growth and national progress. He further stated that CUJ 3 MT is a constructive step in the direction of galvanizing researchers to chisel their research acumen.
Dr Vandana Sharma, Head, Department of English, and Convener of CUJ 3MT, said that under the leadership of Vice Chancellor, CUJ is committed to amplify the research output – whether it is through high quality publication, research projects or chiseling the research acumen of young researchers and replicating 3 MT founded by University of Queensland, Australia is a step in this direction.
Around thirty young researchers from different disciplines of Science presented their research in three minutes who were adjudicated by a panel of judges, including Prof Vivek Gupta from University of Jammu; Dr Qazi Naveed Ahmed, Senior Scientist from IIM, Jammu and Dr Ratna Chandra, Head, Department of Biotechnology.
The first prize with cash money of Rs 10,000 was won by Ananat Ganjoo from IIIM, Jammu; second with prize money of Rs 5000/- was won by Mokshi Sharma from CUJ and the third prize with cash money of Rs 3000/- was won by Dhiksha Sharma from CUJ.
Dr Samantha Vaishnavi conducted the proceedings. Other members of 3 MT Core Organising team, who executed the competition were, Dr Ashok Yadav, Dr Tanuj Deswal, Dr Anjali Dhar, Dr Deepti Malhotra, Dr Sanjay Kumar and Dr Vinay Dhiman.
