3 narcotics smugglers arrested with 6 quintals of poppy straw

SAMBA/JAMMU, Nov 18: Police arrested three narcotics smugglers along with around 6 quintals of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a joint team of SOG Jammu and Police Post Supwal led by SI Javed Kataria laid a naka at Mansar Morh and intercepted a truck.
During checking, police team recovered 580 kilograms of poppy straw concealed in 25 plastic boxes from the truck and arrested two inter state smugglers.
The arrested persons were identified as Gubaksh Singh, son of Darshan Singh and Santokh Singh, son of Barkha Singh, both residents of Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 252/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
The whole operation was monitored by SSP SOG Sandeep Mehta and supervised by SSP Samba Shakti Pathak.
Meanwhile, a team from Bishnah Police Station led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by PSI Rakesh Bandral under the supervision of Additional SP RS Pura Seema Nabi, Incharge SP Headquarters Jammu Sandeep Mehta and SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh laid a naka at Laswara and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB06E-2639.
During frisking, police team recovered 12 kilograms of poppy straw and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Omkar Singh, son of Kapoor Singh of Village Khour, Tehsil RS Pura District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 206/19 under section 8/15/25 NDPS Act has been registered at Bishnah Police Station and investigation started.
