SRINAGAR, July 13: Militants this evening shot at and injured three non-local labourers in Gagran area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
An official said that militants shot at and injured three non-local labourers in Gagran area of Shopian. While giving details of the incident, he said that at 08:45 pm, two pistol-borne masked persons entered into the rented accommodation of the non-local labourers at Gagran Shopian.
The three among them were injured and were evacuated to a nearby District Hospital Shopian where from they were referred to SMHS Srinagar for advanced treatment
The injured persons have been identified as Anmol Kumar, son of Amardeep, Hiralal Yadav, son of Darsi Yadav and Pintoo Kumar, son of Susheel Kumar-all residents of Supaul district of Bihar.
Meanwhile, an official from the hospital said that Anmol Kumar with right arm and abdomen injuries is in critical condition while two others are stated to be stable.
The area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet also confirmed the incident and said that the cordon has been launched in the area.
“#Terrorists fired upon three outside #labourers in #Shopian. Injured persons are Anmol Kumar, Pintu Kumar Thakur and Heralal Yadav, all residents of Distt Supaul, Bihar, being shifted to hospital. Cordon being launched,” Kashmir Police Zone tweeted.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha has strongly condemned the terror attack in Shopian in which three people have been injured.
The Lt Governor said such barbaric acts targeting labourers highlight the desperation and cowardice of terrorists and their sympathisers.
He has directed the district administration to ensure all possible assistance to those injured and their family members. The Lt Governor said no efforts will be spared to bring the perpetrators to justice.
