POONCH, Feb 15: Three elected panchayat members from Kehnu Kulani Panchayat in Poonch resigned over the alleged mining nexus in Magpie Hydro Power Project and other issues related to their wards.
Zulfiqar Ahmed from Ward Number 1, Tariq Ahmed from Ward Number 3 and Riyaz Ahmed Khan from Ward 4 of Panchayat Kehnu Kulani, submitted their resignation to Block Development Officer Sathra with an allegation of injustice being done to them and the residents of their wards.
Zulfqar Ahmed, one among three panchs said that the resources of our panchayat are being looted with an intention of crore of rupees nexus, but no body is listening to us when we tried to stop that.
“We cannot represent our people in such a suffocative environment and that is why three members including me renders resignation, and urge administration to take the issue seriously”, he added.
District mineral Officer Poonch, Javid iqbal when contacted said that Permission has been granted under rules after completion of codal formalities to extract material for emergent nature of Government work, while the check has been kept on its sale, and if it will be found as such, action under law shall be taken accordingly.
