SRINAGAR: Three persons died on Friday after a snow avalanche hit Aru-Pahalgam road in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.
Official sources said that a JCB, which was clearing snow from Aru-Pahalgam road, was swept away by an avalanche on Friday evening. “Three people were onboard the vehicle,” they said, adding rescue teams and machines were immediately pressed into service to trace the missing persons. They said one among the three persons was rescued and rushed to a hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
“The bodies of the remaining two missing persons were also recovered buried under several feet of snow,” they added. They said the deceased have been identified as Ilyas Ahmed Shah, Javed Ahmed and Abdul Aziz. (AGENCIES)
