3 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Nov 18: The police arrested three narco-smugglers and recovered more than 21 kg of poppy straw from their possession in Udhampur area today.
Reports said a police party of Police Station Kud headed by Inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO apprehended one person namely Ashok Kumar, son of Om Parkash, resident of Childi Kither, at present Chenani and during frisking recovered 11kg and 140 grams of poppy straw from his possession. On this, a case FIR No.38/2023 was registered against him.
Similarly, Rehambal police nabbed one Mohiteshwar Singh, son of Mool Raj, resident of Seri Morh, Rehambal and recovered 3kg and 140 grams of contraband substance (poppy straw) from his possession.
Another case was registered in Police Station Chenani in which one vehicle (Canter) bearing registration No. PB 02CC- 6877 was checked. During checking of said vehicle, police team recovered 7 kgs of poppy straw and arrested one Gurpreet Singh son of Jagir Singh of Amritsar, Punjab who was smuggling the said contraband in the vehicle.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 163/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS stands registered at Chenani Police Station.
